Flight Club - Air Experts very much to the point

Market leaders Summit Design, as ‘Experts in Air’ find themselves in yet another wonderful world of cuisine and leisure with their particular expertise in the design supply and installation of air conditioning, kitchen and restaurant ventilation, plumbing services and controls installations, being put to great use! However, who’d have thought it?! Great food as well as science coming together in a professional playground – and this time it’s “all about darts!”

The Flight Club founders enlisted the help of Adam Breeden, co-founder of All Star Lanes and Bounce to help with the new venture, particularly with darts going through a remarkable resurgence at this time. For this “perfect professional playground”, guests can be surrounded by a natural real-time scoring system, invented by a rocket scientist, whilst enjoying great food and drinks in a world of darts – a perfect environment! Oh and not only can guests play darts in private, with private darts rooms, the rustic and fresh look of the venue has an “industrial look” too, which makes it seem just like a home-from-home.

Knowing and understanding the business of ‘air’, Summit Design’s expertise once again played a vital role in the supply and extract of air at this fabulous London bolthole. Summit Design took their expert niche offering into Steve Moore and Paul Barham’s original concept of using “state-of-the-art technology” and “exciting new game-play”, and surrounded it with their perfect ‘air’, to really work some magic.

All in all, Summit Design worked their special formula whilst working closely alongside renowned shopfitters, 3 Interiors, to help create a “cool and social” environment sought by the founders.

As key members of the team to create Flight Club, Summit Design was responsible for implementation of Lehding Services’ design, as well as the installation of full air conditioning, kitchen ventilation, boilers including flue systems, gas infrastructure system, pipework, fire rated kitchen extract ductwork, odour control and cellar cooling. In addition, Summit Design was responsible for all types of water services pipework, as well as the overdoor curtain and sanitary ware.

Summit Design thoroughly enjoyed their involvement with the project, but it certainly had its challenges, as Jonathan Lytle, Marketing Manager for Summit Design, explained:

The eight story fire rated riser, with existing services, certainly provided some challenges – lowering from Level 1 to basement the ductwork to meet the usual demands of such installation work.
In addition, a 480kg fresh air unit was hung up to work in conjunction with the builder’s acoustic ceiling, which added some interesting highlights to the job. Fire rated ductwork being handled and installed with anti-vibration and isolation, perfectly supported, was fixed and fitted as per specification by our fully trained and certified engineers, and subsequently signed off with a Certificate of Conformity to meet performance criteria BS476 part 24:1987.

Other equipment installed included Mitsubishi, as well as VES Andover air handling units, which all contributed to a successful project delivered to meet the agreed tight 12 week deadline.

Dave Veysey, Managing Director at Summit Design, said:

It has been an absolute pleasure to team up with 3 Interiors and Lehding Design once again. We hope that The Flight Club Finsbury Square will be a total success.
