Polpo, Duke of York Square

Polpo, Duke of York Square

Inspiring design throughout! Copper Ceilings and the wonderfully conditioned interior provided by our own team of air experts, this great bàcaro restaurant follows the fabulous ‘airy’ welcome you receive outside with its inviting terrace on Duke of York Square. Inside, the warm welcome by Alexis and team awaits you; perfectly thought out by Television’s ‘Restaurant Man’ Russell Norman and Richard Beatty’s - their newest Polpo making you feel at home.

After the success of the HVAC installations at Polpo Berwick Street and the Notting Hill restaurant, Summit Design were selected again for the latest Restaurant in the Duke of York Square outlet just off the Kings Rd.

Russell Norman and Richard Beatty's newest Polpo opened in time for The Chelsea Flower Show and the obvious financial benefits that this offered also added the element of a very tight programme to a very technically advanced HVAC installation.

While the restaurant has the same stripped back look of the other Polpo's, Norman explains it has the

feel closer to Venice than any restaurant we have opened yet

because of the huge outdoor space available to them; a very handy alfresco destination in Chelsea in the Summer as well as throughout the rest of the year!

Technically, the kitchen ventilation had huge challenges, discharging at only 2.5m high. This was made possible by the installation of a high efficiency double pass electrostatic precipitator to remove particulate down to 0.1 microns followed by the installation of a high grade activated Carbon filter to remove odours to 98%.

Summit Design utilised the services of world-renowned odour control specialist ‘Purified Air’. Air Conditioning units were provided by Daikin UK, the under ceiling cassette system perfectly complementing the copper ceiling panels.

The cosy yet fresh airy feel that the Duke of York Polpo delivers makes this a perfect place for intimate moments over fabulous cuisine, a relaxing coffee, or an opportunity to relax and enjoy admiring Chelsea life at its best.
